The Carnarvon Arms is ideally located for some excellent walks around the Burghclere area. Take in the historic sights of Beacon Hill and Watership Down, an old iron age Fort, Herbert Plantation and Common Land (a designated Countryside Heritage Site), The Church of the Ascension built in 1838 - showing the Millenium Window, the last piece of work by the renowned glass engrave Sir Laurence Whistler and Old Burghclere Lime Quarry; home to many species of butterfly and rare flowers. Walks range from 1 – 5 miles.
Stay for two nights at the Carnarvon Arms, enjoying a delicious 3-course dinner both evenings. Start each morning with an energising breakfast before setting off for your walk, or perhaps you may like to explore some of the fantastic local attractions, such as Highclere Castle and Sandham Memorial. We will provide maps and a home-made gourmet picnic each day.
